Glucose screening

I had my one hour glucose screening yesterday.  I don't know if I passed yet, but I am really hoping I did.  I had a bad sugar crash with it this time...so bad that I couldn't even think of the appropriate responses to customers' questions at work.  But, I had no sugar or carbs the day before, just protein and vegetables, and I didn't eat anything before I went, so I failed, there was nothing else I could do.

I am also broke out in a terrible rash on my left side...very itchy and annoying.  Dr. H said to just use hydro-cortisone cream or to take Benadryl if I was really miserable.  The cream helps for an hour or so, and then it itches like crazy again.I'm also having very painful contractions off and on.  I asked about that, too, and he said it was normal.  I don't remember doing that last time, so I'm hoping it means maybe my body will be more ready for labor this go-around.  12 weeks to go and appointments every two weeks now.

Ultrasound photo

Photo from my ultrasound at the end of February.  Looks just like Evan did, but I guess we will see when he's here.

Uneventful times

I feel like I should be writing more about this pregnancy because I wrote so much last time, but there was way more drama last time.  This pregnancy has been very uneventful, and I'm not complaining about that.

I'm feeling lots of kicks now all the time, and starting to get pretty uncomfortable, too.  It seems like this baby hangs out pretty low most of the time because I have a lot more pressure this time than I remember from my pregnancy with Evan.  I've also been getting fat fingers and toes when it is hot outside.  I HATE that.

My next appointment is in about two weeks, and I have my glucose test that day.  Blech.  Hoping for normal results this time.  And no earthquakes during the test.

It's a boy!

I had an ultrasound today, and it was once again very obviously a boy! I was going to be thrilled either way, and I am very excited to know so I can get started working on a nursery. Pics will follow whenever I am feeling less lazy.

Everything looked perfect, too - three vessel cord, four chamber heart, and so on. They were able to get all of the views that they needed this time, so we don't have to go back for a repeat or anything. I am so relieved!

Cough, cough, cough

I had to go to the doctor last week because I was coughing and hacking so hard that I almost threw up. And apparently, no doctor at Holzer Clinic will see you if you're pregnant, except for your OB doctor. So, I drove all the way to Gallipolis to get some cough medicine and a z-pac. But on the plus side, at only 11 weeks, I got to hear the baby's heartbeat on Doppler. :) 160 bpm

Ultrasound picture

I don't know why it says "I'm back." My doctor is goofy sometimes.

Ultrasound and first appointment

I had my first appointment with Dr. H yesterday. It went well. He did an ultrasound to establish a due date. Based on ovulation, my due date would be 8-15 and I'd be about 8 weeks now. He put me at 9 weeks with a due date of 8-8. It's only a week, so I'm not too concerned about it.

Also, they have already labeled this pregnancy as "high risk" and offered me a level 2 ultrasound and fetal echo to check for the conditions that Evan has. I was for sure going to do it, but then I started thinking. I had both of those tests when I was pregnant with Evan, and they weren't able to see ANY of the things that were wrong with him at that point. So, I might just hold off. Dr. H said we would be super cautious and check everything. I might see if the pediatrician would order testing after the baby is born. That seems like it would be more beneficial.

I guess we'll see.
